16hh 8yo Warmblood Gelding

I purchased Astro 1st February 2005.  When I went to look at him, I saw a skinny, unmuscled horse, that was in need of some TLC.

He had been out of work for 2yrs, but with his fantastic bloodlines and potentially stunning looks, I decided to make him my dressage partner and mate for years to come.

In the last 12 months, we have had our fair share of arguments, challenges and everything that goes with training and getting to know each other, but it has been a wonderful year, and he is certainly starting to shine.

I created this website because he is a very special horse, and I look forward to listing all his acheivements and sharing them with everyone.

I would like to make special thanks to one of our instructors Sally Evans, who found Astro for me, and without her help we would not be the team we are...she has done some amazing training on both of us!

Bloodlines

Astro is by the gorgeous, well known sire 'Aachimedes'.   Aachimedes produces quality dressage horses, many of which are competing at the highest levels in Australia.

Aachimedes is by Aachen who is by Argentinus.

His Dam (Tonkytonk Fancy) is by Falkland, and her grandsire is Monopol on her Dams side.

Astro has phenomenal bloodlines on both sides.

Training

Astro is currently competing Preliminary and lower level Novice tests.  In another month he will be competing higher novice tests.  He is currently training elementary.

He is worked 6 days a week, one of those days includes a fun and relaxing trail ride where we walk on a loose rein, trot and canter up and down gullies, and gallop along the flat, as well as occasionally chasing the odd cow and taking in the lovely scenery around our property.

We have a weekly - fortnightly lesson with a fantastic local instructor, and we head back to Sallys every 2 months for a tune up.

Goals

Short term:

* To score well at the local unoffical dressage shows we will be competing at over the next few months.

* To be competing higher level novice tests by March 2006

* To be competing unoffical early elementary tests by May 2006

* To compete offical in Prelim and Novice

Long Term Goals:

* To be competing higher elementary (including official comps) by the end of 2006 as well as training medium

* To be competing Medium in 2007 and up a level every year after that

* To one day have Astro competing at FEI level...at least Prix St George
